Collision with 18-wheeler in Ashdown Proves Fatal

55-year-old Lawrence Box (Valliant, OK) was fatally injured in an accident on Saturday, May 8, 2021.

At approximately 9:17 a.m. Mr. Box was a passenger in a vehicle (2014 Honda CRV) that was attempting to turn east onto State Highway 32 in Ashdown. The vehicle collided with a westbound 18-wheeler (2015 Peterbilt). Mr. Box sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

According to the police report, “the driver of [the vehicle] was pronounced deceased at Little River Memorial Hospital.” The driver was an unidentified minor. However, the report also indicates only one occupant was fatally injured in the collision. A second unidentified minor was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported with injuries to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Conditions were reportedly clear and dry.
