Vaping Lawsuit Against JUUL
The personal injury attorneys at Taylor King Law are actively pursuing lawsuits against JUUL regarding vaping and addiction.
Lawsuits allege that JUUL has targeted and caused harm to children. JUUL’s active social media marketing amongst youth, fruity and candy-like flavors, elevated levels of nicotine, and a failure to warn of its health risks are all contributors.
If your family has been affected by JUUL’s aggressive and deceptive marketing, contact Taylor King today at 870.246.0505 or toll-free at 1.800.305.0529. An initial consultation is both free and confidential.
What is JUUL or JUULing?
“JUULing” refers to the use of a particular brand of e-cigarettes known as JUUL. JUUL is a particularly popular brand of e-cigarettes, with an estimated 68% share of the e-cigarette market. Like many e-cigarettes, JUUL is a battery-powered handheld device (similar to a USB flash drive) that heats a liquid (known as pods or pod cartridges) to create an easily inhaled aerosol.

What is Vaping?
“Vaping” refers to the vapors inhaled from an e-cigarette.
Is JUUL Dangerous?
Yes, the liquid inside a JUUL pod cartridge contains toxins including glycerol, propylene glycol, benzoic acid, and nicotine. Similar toxins are found in other e-cigarettes, including formaldehyde, harmful acetals, and at least 60 chemical compounds according to the Truth Initiative. Research indicates that the use of e-cigarettes may result in…
- Markedly reduced brain activity
- Increased sensitivity to other drugs
- Trouble breathing and chest pain
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Seizures or convulsions
- Lung disease
- Death*
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has only just begun to investigate the link between e-cigarettes and their long-term effects. Until now, e-cigarettes and JUUL have existed in a “relatively unregulated environment.”
Why Are E-Cigarettes in the News?
*While studies are underway and details continue to emerge, at least 6 deaths have been now linked to e-cigarettes.
How is JUUL Different
JUUL has a dominant share of the market. According to JUUL, their mission is to eliminate cigarettes, envisioning “a world where fewer people use cigarettes, and where people who smoke cigarettes have the tools to reduce or eliminate their consumption entirely, should they so desire.”
JUUL pods contain twice the concentration of nicotine compared to similar e-cig devices. A single JUUL pod contains as much nicotine as a pack of 20 regular cigarettes.
Is Vaping Safer than Smoking Cigarettes?
An e-cigarette or vaping device contains fewer harmful chemicals than a regular cigarette, but in some cases contains higher concentrations of nicotine.
And although e-cigarettes do not contain tobacco, the FDA has categorized them as a “tobacco product.”

According to the CDC, evidence suggests that vaping, especially among children, leads to a child being more likely to smoke regular cigarettes.
JUUL and Minors
While they claim to market themselves to adults, JUUL’s marketing to youth has come under intense scrutiny. According to Stanford researchers, JUUL’s advertising “was patently youth-oriented.”

A majority of JUUL-related Instagram posts appealed to youth culture, and research indicates that 80% of JUUL’s followers on Twitter were between the ages of 13 and 20. According to www.cancer.org, JUUL is the overwhelming favorite e-cigarette product among teenagers.
Vaping among high school students increased by nearly 80% between 2017 and 2018, marking the highest increase in smoking, drinking, or drug use ever recorded in the United States. Much of the surge has been attributed to JUUL’s marketing efforts amongst youth.
