Icy Roads Lead to Fatal Accident Near Garfield

60-year-old James Edward Sawyer (Rogers, AR) was fatally injured in an accident on Monday, January 30, 2023.

At approximately 4:37 a.m. Mr. Sawyer was traveling west on Guyll Ridge Road approaching the intersection with Fire Run Road in Garfield when his large truck (2019 Kenworth) carrying a 300-pound piece of heavy equipment lost control on icy roads. Mr. Sawyer’s truck slid off the roadway overturning.

Weather conditions were freezing rain and road conditions icy at the time of the accident.
