Staff Spotlight: Jessica Deaton

Jessica Deaton is celebrating a decade with Taylor King Law this March. She started as an intake specialist and has grown into her current role as a records clerk, all while prepping and sending the firm’s direct mail.

When she’s not working, Jessica is at home surrounded by her five dogs—Luna the German Shepherd, Ruger, Kimber, and Halo the Rottweilers, and Bell, the Great Pyrenees. If there’s one thing having a house full of animals has taught her, it’s the importance of responsibility. “Having animals is just like having kids,” she says. “They depend on you for everything.”

During her downtime, Jessica indulges in a bit of fun with the PlayStation, diving into the world of Fortnite. Even though her days may be filled with work and animal care, she finds a little time for a simple pleasure—her favorite food, pizza. Jessica enjoys learning new things, which is one of the aspects she loves most about her role. Recently, she has taken up gardening and canning her own food.

When asked for advice that has shaped her life, Jessica recalls words from her parents: “We have two ears and one mouth for a reason. I feel this is something that has helped me in life, allowing me to learn quickly by listening instead of talking.”

Looking back on her ten years with Taylor King Law, Jessica describes her experience with three words: educational, engaging, and encouraging. We’re grateful for her contributions and excited to see what the next years will bring!
