What to Do After a Car Accident in Arkansas
Have you ever wondered who’s the lawyer with the Golden Retrievers?
If you’ve driven around Arkansas, you might have seen billboards all around the state for the Taylor King Law Firm! And if you’ve seen the billboards, then you’ve certainly seen the commercials, specifically the ones featuring our Golden Retrievers! These are the King family’s dogs, and they’re who make Taylor King known as the “Lawyer with a Dog!”
Goldens have long been a part of the King family. Here’s what Austin and Maggie had to say about their family’s ‘Lawyer with a Dog’ image.
When asked about having the family pet become one of the faces of the firm, Austin says “The dogs have always been a part of our family and now they’ve become a huge part of our work family.”
Taylor King Law focuses on treating its clients like family. In doing so, it makes their work all the more meaningful. It only made sense to make the family pets part of their workplace family as well!
Maggie includes that she’s “always loved including [all the dogs]!” Maggie feels like “it shows a little more about us as people and a family,” as it gives more examples that they’re more than just attorneys.
“All the smiles and cuddles are very real” when the Goldens are seen on set, in the office, or even in real life!
Golden Retrievers have long been a part of the King family. Austin tells us, “We got Buddy on my 12th birthday [in 2001].” Buddy was the first furry face of Taylor King Law.
After Buddy, “We’ve had a golden in the family ever since…and they are in the same line over the last 22 years.” How neat is it that they’ve kept a successful business as well as a pet line going for so many years!
Maggie went on to tell me that after Buddy, the family “got Lady a few months later,” and currently, “there are two Shih Tzus, named Lily and Tuni,” living in the King house along with Honey, the newest furry member of the family.
We’re sure growing up with Goldens was quite fun for Austin and Maggie since Honey lights up a room every time she walks into the office! Enter into the conversation, Bradi! Maggie got her first dog, Bradi, another golden retriever, while she was in college. Maggie also has Hazel, a golden doodle with lots of energy but the “same sweet, loyal nature” as all the TKL Goldens!
When asked about how the dogs affect the firm, Maggie started off saying “dogs are just happy…and [that quality] has always been there,” not just since being introduced in commercials. Maggie bragged on the Goldens saying how “they inspire that joy in us as a family and…to anyone who sees them.” She goes on to add that “they are just pure…and I hope that honest joy run[s] over into how we strive to run our business and take care of our clients.”
Austin added how “incredibly loyal” their Goldens have been. He touched on the firm a bit, like Maggie, and said that he “think[s] clients connect with a pet owner [as] it humanizes what we do and it makes people feel comfortable to call us when they need help.”
The next question is how the name “Lawyer with a Dog” came to be in the first place. Taylor says that it “just sort of happened.”
“The dogs are with me most of the time…so when marketing shoots happened, they would usually get into the shot naturally.”
What does it mean to Taylor King Law to be known for their dogs? To Taylor, the phrase “means a lawyer you can trust and a lawyer who understands how normal people live their lives.”
The Kings have loved and shared their home with four Golden Retrievers. They include Buddy (the first furry face of Taylor King Law), Lady, Bradi Bear, and Honey (the current furry face of Taylor King Law):
If you visit Taylor’s office, you’ll find a plaque of Buddy with his years of life and the following quote: “A dog doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart, and he will give you his.”
Buddy’s nickname was “the Foreman,” and he was known to be especially loyal to the King family. He was also “the first firm mascot…show[ing] up in several TV spots.”
Lady was Buddy’s contemporary, born the same year. “Lady was a beautiful red-coated golden retriever. She was especially sweet and kind.”
Since living alongside her counterpart Buddy, Taylor recounted how “both Buddy and Lady guarded our house and helped keep the armadillos at bay.” What a fun pair those 2 had to have been!
“Bradi Bear, or just Bradi for short, is really Maggie’s dog that she received while in college.” She started becoming the firm mascot once “Buddy was reaching retirement age.”
There was even a great TV commercial where the “torch was passed” from Buddy to Bradi.
Bradi’s known to be “the sweetest golden ever” and also “has a red coat” as Lady did. “She’s smaller in size, but she has the largest loving heart,” according to Taylor.
And finally, we come to the current mascot of Taylor King Law, Honey! She is Taylor’s “current golden friend.” He uses ‘friend’ as he says that he “has become a better golden pet owner through the years.” Taylor describes Honey as his “companion [who] spends lots of time with [him].” His suburban full of Golden Retriever hair in the backseat and floor is proof!
If you see a billboard, car wrap, or TV commercial, then you’re likely seeing Honey!
“They’ve brought us all closer together. When the kids were young our schedule revolved around their activities so the Goldens were an easy dog to take anywhere with us.” After Austin and Maggie graduated high school, college, and finally law school, “dogs became even more central to our lives.”
Taylor and Terri currently share their home with three dogs (Honey, the Golden, and two Shih Tzu’s, Lily & Tuni), as well as six cows, seven chickens, and two cats. Talk about animal people!
As you can see, the Golden Retrievers are quite important to the King family as well as the Taylor King Law firm itself. They are great additions to both and have come a long way in the business as well. After all, who wouldn’t want dog people to be “on their side – by their side” during a stressful time? We all know that dogs are the best thing to have during times of need.
Come by the office to spot a golden, say “hi,” or give them a scratch behind the ears. They love the attention as well as meeting and helping out new clients.
