Ricky Schwellinger Struck and Killed While on Shoulder of I-49

46-year-old Ricky Schwellinger (Bentonville, AR) was fatally injured in an accident that took place on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Mr. Schwellinger was standing on the shoulder of Interstate 49 outside of a stopped vehicle near Lowell when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.

Mr. Schwellinger was standing on the driver side of a 2006 Chrysler stopped on the outside shoulder of I-49. In addition, a 2005 Toyota vehicle was stopped on the shoulder.

A 2015 Dodge vehicle traveling south on Interstate 49 reportedly veered off the roadway onto the outside shoulder sideswiping both the stopped Toyota vehicle and Chrysler vehicle before striking Mr. Schwellinger.

Conditions were reportedly clear and dry.
