Find Out If You Qualify for a Depo-Provera Lawsuit in Arkansas
Three primary factors will determine whether you have a Depo Provera case in Arkansas:
Were you prescribed Depo-Provera?
Did you take Depo-Provera?
Did you later develop Meningioma?
How Is Depo-Provera Linked to Meningioma?
In March 2024, a British Medical Journal study linked the use of Depo-Provera to an increased risk of intracranial meningioma. The study looked at 18,061 women who had surgery to remove meningiomas and found that those who used Depo-Provera for more than a year were five times more likely to have developed them.
In a statement, Pfizer (makers of Depo-Provera) said, “We are aware of this potential risk associated with long-term use of progestogens and, in collaboration with regulatory agencies, are in the process of updating product labels and patient information leaflets with appropriate wording.” However, as of November 2024, the pharmaceutical’s online guide does not warn about the risks of developing brain tumors.
Additional studies have linked progestin and meningiomas in the past. Nonetheless, the makers of Depo-Provera have failed to properly test Depo-Provera or warn women of the potential risks associated with the contraceptive. If you or a loved one developed a brain tumor after having used the contraception, then contact an Arkansas Depo-Provera Lawyer at Taylor King Law for a free case evaluation. We’ll listen, answer your questions, and help you determine whether you’re eligible to file a lawsuit.

Unaware of the risks, she continued to use Depo-Provera and was therefore forced to undergo radiation as the tumor rapidly regrew.
October 1, 2024: The first Depo-Provera meningioma lawsuit is filed. The plaintiff first received injections in 2005. Later, in 2022, an MRI revealed a meningioma. The claimant, Kristina Schmidt, filed her lawsuit against Pfizer in California.
May 1, 2024: Pfizer included information about meningiomas under the warnings section of their Patient Information Leaflet for Depo-Provera in Europe, but continued to leave out warnings in America.
March 27, 2024: The British Medical Journal published a study that found a strong association between prolonged Depo-Provera use.
June 1, 2022: The European Journal published a study linking high progestogen usage to a higher risk of meningiomas.
Why Seek Compensation From Pfizer?
While many personal injury claims can be resolved outside of the courtroom, others demand that the justice system be invoked. Here are 4 reasons to consider filing a lawsuit with a Depo-Provera Lawyer:
COMPENSATION: You deserve compensation for your injuries, medical bills, time lost, wages, pain and suffering, and more. For many, a lawsuit may be your only course of recompense.
SAFETY: By holding Pfizer accountable, a lawsuit can then safeguard women in the future.
AWARENESS: These consumer protection lawsuits bring attention to negligence.
JUSTICE: Justice follows action: without lawsuits, large companies will continue their harmful practices.
We’re prepared to hold Pfizer accountable and to help you seek compensation. Call our Arkansas Depo-Provera Lawyer at Taylor King today to find out more.

Taylor King opened the first office in 1994 and has been practicing law for more than 30 years. Those who know him best would describe him as “laser-focused,” which is good news for his clients and bad news for his golf opponents.
Attorney Chris Cordero was very kind and put me at ease during this process. He always took the time to listen to my concerns. He’s a professional who actually cares about his clients. I highly recommend the Taylor King Law Firm.

Depo-Provera is an injectable contraceptive – a quarterly injection of high-dosage progestin. Progestin is a synthetic progesterone. Each dose is 150 mg of DMPA (depot medroxyprogesterone acetate) and, subsequently, is administered in the deep tissue (upper arm or buttock).
Depo-SubQ Provera 104 is also an injectable contraceptive but a much lower dose. Each injection is 104mg of DMPA and is administered subcutaneously (thigh or abdomen).
A meningioma is a tumor of the lining of the spine and brain (known as the meninges). Progesterone is heavily involved in regulating the growth of meningiomas.
Lawsuits against Pfizer allege that the manufacturer:
Failed to adequately test Depo-Provera.
Failed to warn women of the risk of meningiomas despite decades of research linking progesterone to these tumors.
Neglected to update warnings although the dangers had become readily apparent.
Failed to promote the use of a safer, lower-dose alternative.
Despite evidence to the contrary, continued to market Depo-Provera as safe and effective.
The statute of limitations for a personal injury lawsuit is three years in Arkansas. However, statutes vary from state to state. The deadline can vary depending on your location.
The deadline to file a Depo-Provera lawsuit starts once you’ve been diagnosed, so it’s critical that you contact an attorney as quickly as possible.
There are three primary criteria for women who are seeking compensation:
Prescribed Depo-Provera or Depo-Provera SubQ
Used Depo-Provera (or an authorized generic contraceptive)
Subsequently developed a meningioma
An experienced attorney will ask additional questions, including how long you used Depo-Provera and how many injections you were administered.
A personal injury attorney can help you gather the needed evidence to file a lawsuit against the makers of Depo-Provera. Evidence needed can include, but is not limited to:
A doctor’s prescription for Depo-Provera
Indication that you followed the manufacturer’s directions for use of Depo-Provera
Proof of severe health effects, such as a meningioma
Evidence of medical care is required to treat your injuries
You are eligible for damages if you’ve taken Depo-Provera and have suffered ill health effects. Damages that a Depo-Provera attorney will seek on your behalf include, but are not limited to:
Medical costs
Time lost
Lost wages
Pain and suffering
Wrongful death (if applicable)
We recommend contacting a class-action attorney near you to fully discuss what damages you might be eligible for.
