Vehicle Crosses Center Line on Arkansas Highway Fatally Injuring 88-year-old Lois Roubidoux

88-year-old Lois Roubidoux (Springdale, AR) was fatally injured in a two-vehicle accident on Sunday, July 22.

The accident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Ms. Roubidoux was a passenger in a 2006 Kia headed east on Highway 412 in Carroll County. The vehicle was driven by 76-year-old David Leon Roubidoux (Springdale). A second vehicle (2003 Ford) driven by 51-year-old Thomas C Fitz (Sparta, AR) was headed west on Highway 412. Mr. Fitz’s Ford vehicle crossed over the center double yellow line entering the eastbound lane of traffic. Both vehicles attempted to avoid contact, negotiating left. The front right side of Mr. Fitz’s vehicle struck the front right of Mr. Roubidoux’s vehicle. Both vehicles rotated clockwise and Mr. Fitz’s vehicle struck the ditch south of the roadway overturning. Mr. Roubidoux’s vehicle came to rest in the middle of Highway 412 facing south. Both drivers were injured in the accident.

Conditions at the time were reportedly clear and dry.
