I-40 Car Wreck Claims One Life, Injures Two

31-year-old Shala Bell-Sanders (Russellville, AR) was fatally injured in an accident on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

At approximately 4:48 p.m. Ms. Bell-Sanders was driving west on Interstate 40 near Russellville. Ms. Bell-Sanders was traveling west in the inside lane of traffic. A westbound vehicle (2020 Volkswagon) traveling in the outside lane of traffic changed lanes and struck the rear of Ms. Bell-Sanders’ vehicle (2005 Buick) in the inside lane of traffic. Both vehicles left the roadway.

An unidentified minor male passenger was traveling in Ms. Bell-Sanders’ vehicle and sustained injuries in the collision.

29-year-old Rebecca Rockenhaus (Fayetteville, AR) was traveling in the Volkswagon vehicle and sustained injuries in the collision.

Those injured were transported with injuries to St. Mary’s Hospital.

Conditions were reportedly clear and dry.
