Apparent Street Race Wreck Leads to 12-year-old's Death

12-year-old Aniyah Dilworth was fatally injured in a suspected street race Wednesday, June 6. Witnesses report two vehicles traveling at high speeds along Riverfront Drive in North Little Rock at approximately 12:20 p.m.

Michael Scales (30) was driving a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. Brandon Rogers (29) was driving a 2008 Ford Mustang. Aniyah Dilworth was a passenger in the Crown Victoria.

According to reports, both vehicles were traveling at an extremely high rate of speed when it appeared that the Crown Victoria swerved and struck the Ford Mustang. Both vehicles struck several trees and the Crown Victoria wrapped itself around a light pole.

Mr. Scales was transported to UAMS. An unidentified 11-year-old boy (passenger in the Ford Mustang) was transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. A second passenger in the Ford Mustang was 34-year-old Sherry Battles.

Conditions were reportedly clear and dry.
