Construction on I-40 Leads to Fatal Accident

77-year-old Mary Sue Rutledge (Dover, AR) was fatally injured in an accident that occurred on Thursday, July 9, 2020.

At approximately 5:23 a.m. Ms. Rutledge was traveling east on Interstate 40 between Menifee and Plumerville when a dump truck (2007 Chevrolet Dumpbed) “reduced speed” to change lanes between construction barriers. Ms. Rutledge’s vehicle (2019 Toyota Rav 4) collided with the rear of the dump truck (and its cargo).

82-year-old James Rutledge (Dover, AR) was injured in the accident and transported with injuries to Conway Regional Medical Center.

Conditions were reportedly clear and dry.
