Wet Roads Lead to Brinkley Woman's Death in Highway 1 Wreck

70-year-old Karoll Francis Rutherford (Brinkley, AR) was fatally injured in an accident that took place on Friday, October 11, 2019.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. Ms. Rutherford was traveling north on State Highway 1 in Cherry Valley between Harrisburg and Wynne when her vehicle (2002 Ford Ranger) crossed the centerline and entered the southside ditch. Ms. Rutherford’s vehicle reentered the highway and struck a southbound vehicle head-on.

62-year-old Wardell Carter (Wynne, AR) was driving south on State Highway 1 when his vehicle (2007 Dodge Ram) was struck head-on by Ms. Rutherford’s vehicle.

Weather conditions were rainy and road conditions wet at the time of the accident.
