Icy Roads Result in Fatal Collision on Highway 71

21-year-old Juan Heredia-Lopez (Rogers, AR) was fatally injured in an accident that took place on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m. Mr. Heredia-Lopez was a passenger in a vehicle traveling south on Highway 71 when his vehicle (2001 Toyota Corolla) lost control near Robinson Avenue “possibly due to ice.” Mr. Heredia-Lopez’s vehicle spun into northbound traffic and collided with a northbound vehicle (2013 Hyundai Elantra).

18-year-old Brandon Jimenez (Rogers, AR) and an unidentified male minor were also in Mr. Heredia-Lopez’s vehicle.

18-year-old Falon Perkins (Springdale, AR) and 18-year-old Vincent Mason (Rogers, AR) were in the Hyundai vehicle traveling north at the time of the accident.

Those injured were transported to Mercy Hospital in Rogers and Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

Weather conditions were cloudy with freezing temperatures, and road conditions included patches of ice.
