Highway 63 Wreck Proves Fatal After Car Attempts to Avoid Deer on the Road

61-year-old Vickery Dale McIlvoy (Williford, AR) was fatally injured in an accident that took place on Sunday, June 16, 2019.

At approximately 12:21 a.m. Mr. McIlvoy was driving south on U.S. Highway 63 north of the Sharp County and Lawrence County line. Mr. McIlvoy attempted to miss two deer standing in the road when his vehicle (2000 GMC Sonoma) struck one deer and exited the roadway. The vehicle traveled up an embankment and struck several small trees before coming back down the embankment and striking the ditch. The vehicle then rotated counterclockwise and began to roll.

31-year-old Ashley N. Lee (Williford, AR) was injured in the accident. Ms. Lee was transported to St. Bernard’s Medical Center with injuries.

Conditions at the time were reportedly clear and dry.
