Head-On Collision in Independence County Claims One Life and Injures Two

57-year-old Adalberto Diaz (Mountain View, AR) was fatally injured in an accident that occurred on New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31, 2018.

Mr. Diaz was a passenger in a 1999 Honda traveling east on State Highway 14 west of Locust Grove. 37-year-old Mareesa Diaz (Mountain View, AR) was driving the vehicle and just exiting a curve on Highway 14. A 2017 GMC vehicle traveling west on Highway 14 was about to enter the same curve when both vehicles collided head-on. 31-year-old Martha Alejandra Jasso (Mountain View, AR) was driving the GMC vehicle. Both Ms. Diaz and Ms. Jasso were transported with injuries.

An investigation regarding fault is still pending.

Conditions at the time of the accident were rainy and wet.
