Icy Roads in Arkansas Lead to Fatal Wreck Near Salem

21-year-old Edwin V. Borntreger (Salem, AR) was fatally injured in an accident on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

At approximately 12:25 p.m. Mr. Borntreger was a passenger in a vehicle (2008 Dodge Ram 2500) traveling east on Highway 62 (Highway 412) in Fulton County. The vehicle, which was pulling a flatbed trailer with logs, lost control on icy conditions going downhill before leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

Weather conditions including sleet and freezing rain and road conditions were icy at the time of the accident.

37-year-old Willard Yoder (Salem, AR), 56-year-old Scott Freeman (Salem, AR), and 23-year-old Austin Freeman (Salem, AR) were all injured in the accident. Those with injuries were transported to Fulton County Hospital.
