Driver Loses Life in 3-Car Collision on Wet Highway 270

82-year-old Billy Charles Pierce (Mount Ida, AR) was fatally injured in an accident that occurred on Friday, May 15, 2020.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Mr. Pierce was traveling west on Highway 270 near Mount Ida when his vehicle (2017 Buick) “crossed the centerline and side-swiped” two eastbound vehicles. Both eastbound vehicles (2016 Dodge & 2007 Ford) left the roadway.

7 additional people, including two minors, were involved and sustained injuries in the collision. 67-year-old Charles DeWayne Ray (Little Rock, AR), 38-year-old Stefani Hertado (Hot Springs, AR), 79-year-old Charlotte Marimae Pierce (Mt. Ida, AR), 57-year-old Glenn Elmer Pierce (Sherman, TX), and 47-year-old Tracy Jean Pierce (Sherman, TX).

Weather conditions were rainy and road conditions wet at the time of the accident.
