Semi-Truck Crashes Into Vehicle on Shoulder of 67/167

53-year-old Agueda Carrillo Mata (Batesville, AR) was fatally injured in an accident on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Five additional passengers in Ms. Mata’s vehicle also sustained injuries in the accident.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. Ms. Agueda Carrillo Mata was a passenger in a vehicle (2024 Dodge Ram) stopped on the righthand shoulder of US 67/167 near Ward, Arkansas. According to the preliminary report, occupants of the vehicle were both inside and outside the vehicle when an 18-wheeler struck the stopped Dodge vehicle.

The large semi-truck’s fuel tank burst causing both the large truck and Ms. Mata’s Dodge vehicle to catch fire. Additionally, the Dodge Ram was forced off the shoulder where it proceed to roll over.

Ms. Agueda Carrillo Mata sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

35-year-old Miguel Angel Salas Carrillo (Batesville, AR), 54-year-old Jose Salas de la Cruz (Batesville, AR), 35-year-old Jarumit Lugo (Batesville, AR), 37-year-old Jose Enrique Salas Carrillo (Batesville, AR), and an unidentified female minor were also involved in the crash and sustained injuries.

Those involved were transported with injury to UAMS in Little Rock.
