Fatal 20-Vehicle Collision Claims Several Lives on I-30 in Arkansas

Three additional passengers who were fatally injured have been identified by Arkansas State Police. 54-year-old James Carter (Arlington, TX), 52-year-old Anthony Peoples (Hot Springs, AR), and 82-year-old Horace Butcher (Hensley, AR) were all fatally injured in an accident on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. heavy rain resulted in a multi-vehicle accident on I-30 Westbound near Friendship, Arkansas. A prior fatal accident created a traffic back-up that resulted in the 20-vehicle collision near mile marker 85. James Carter, Jr., Anthony Peoples, and Horace Butcher all sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

An additional 11 vehicle passengers were injured in the accident. Injuries occurred to 29-year-old Harjit Singh (S. Richmond, NY), Armondo Jimenez (Mexico), Fernando Hernandez (Mexico), 45-year-old Ramon Evangelista (San Diego, CA), 23-year-old Dylan Niedzwiecki (Manel, TX), 22-year-old Rachel Morris (Manel, TX), 60-year-old Teresa Rejterada (Hudson, FL), 69-year-old Zdzislaw Siemaszko (Hudson, FL), 18-year-old James Carter, Jr. (Arlington, TX), 42-year-old Maria Carter (Arlington, TX), and 54-year-old Ramon Somoza (Houston, TX).

Those injured were transported with injuries to CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs according to the preliminary report.

Weather conditions were heavy rain and road conditions wet at the time of the accident.
