Sixteen-Car Pile-up on Hwy 67 in AR Claims Two Lives

A sixteen-car pile-up in Arkansas has claimed two lives and injured six more.

68-year-old Thomas Blevins (Logan, Ohio) and 55-year-old Terry Lutz (Somerset, Ohio) were both fatally injured in an accident on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. Mr. Blevins and Mr. Lutz were traveling north on U.S. 67 near mile marker 99 in Jackson County, AR. Smoke from a nearby field covered all four lanes of U.S. 67. Due to limited visibility, the smoke created a chain reaction collision involving sixteen vehicles.

Mr. Blevins and Mr. Lutz both sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

Injuries occurred to six additional drivers: 39-year-old Sara Guajardo (Painesville, Ohio), 59-year-old Greg Redford (Elkville, Illinois), 42-year-old Alfonso Hernandez (Los Fresnos, Texas), 21-year-old Emma Vosburg (Newark, Arkansas), 45-year-old Brittany Cricher (Newark, AR), and 42-year-old Eric Tharp (Newport, AR).

Those injured were transported to Unity Health Harris Medical Center in Newport, AR, and St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.
