Fatal Collision on US 79 Near Pine Bluff, AR
44-year-old Mario Perez (Tampa, FL) was fatally injured in an accident on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
At approximately 12:10 p.m. Mr. Perez was traveling east on I-30 when his 18-wheeler (1996 Kenworth) left the roadway and collided with the tree line near mile marker 102. Ongoing road construction caused traffic to slow to a stop and Mr. Perez’s 18-wheeler was not able to slow quickly enough on wet roads. Mr. Perez steered left to avoid a collision leading his 18-wheeler to leave the roadway.
Weather conditions were cloudy and road conditions were wet at the time of the accident.
