25-year-old Austin Lumpkins (Tishomingo, Mississippi) was fatally injured in an accident that took place on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.

At approximately 5:10 a.m. Mr. Lumpkins parked on the northbound shoulder of Interstate 55 near mile marker 28. Mr. Lumpkins exited his vehicle to assist a previously wrecked vehicle. 37-year-old John Chambers (Dallas, TX) was trapped inside a 2006 International semi-truck lying on its passenger side. The vehicle was blocking the right lane of traffic.

A 2017 Volvo traveling north on Interstate 55 struck both the previously wrecked International truck and Mr. Lumpkins.

Conditions were reportedly clear and dry at the time of the accident.
