Staff Spotlight: Jose Cordova

Jose Cordova has been with the firm since January 9, 2023. He began as a Case Manager and now serves as an Intake Specialist. In his free time, Jose likes “to try new things, whether that is a new restaurant or a new place, anything that gets me out of the same routine.”

One of his favorite trips was to Washington, D.C. He especially enjoyed “seeing all the history that the museums and monuments hold,” with the Air & Space Museum and the International Spy Museum. Jose’s favorite restaurant is Bordinos in Fayetteville, where he typically gets “the calamari to start and the beef tenderloin rigatoni as a main dish.”

Looking ahead, one of his New Year’s resolutions is “to be able to find tickets to attend a World Cup game in the U.S.,” and he’s excited “to be able to go to my first World Cup game in Mexico.”

When it comes to his role, Jose believes “having empathy is a big one for sure.” He explains that “people come to us during a period of unknown and it is our job to guide them and sometimes just listen when they talk.”

What he enjoys most is “having the ability to directly impact a person’s life when they have just had, quite possibly, one of the worst days of their lives.” His background as a case manager has helped him “better understand and give answers to people if either the CM or attorney are not available.”

The best advice Jose has ever received is, “You can do everything right and still not get the outcome you want—don’t confuse effort or integrity with control,” which reminds him “to not beat myself up when not everything goes right.”
