Staff Spotlight: Phyllis Dixon

Meet Phyllis Dixon, our Government Records Clerk, who handles Medicaid, Tricare, ChampVA, and VA requests. Phyllis has been part of the Taylor King Law family for over ten years.

Before joining TKL, Phyllis spent nearly 30 years at the Arkadelphia Human Development Center, where she started as a part-time switchboard operator while attending Ouachita Baptist University. She went on to become a Speech Therapist, Quality Assurance Coordinator, and later Director for Education, Work, and Training, supervising both teaching and residential staff. After retiring twice (and even substitute teaching for a while), Phyllis joined TKL — and we’re so glad she did!

Phyllis says what she enjoys most about her role is how helpful everyone is. “From my very first day, whenever I ask for assistance, someone responds,” she says. “I’m technologically challenged sometimes, but the ‘young’ people are always so cooperative. Taylor King is an amazing boss, and this is a great place to work.”

Outside of work, Phyllis enjoys playing games on her phone and tablet. She’s also a lifelong musician — she started piano lessons at age seven, began playing at church at twelve, and has been playing at her current church for over 46 years. She even started teaching piano lessons back in sixth grade! Her favorite place to eat is Red Lobster — where she celebrated her second retirement — and her favorite trip was a family cruise to the Bahamas. “It was my first and only cruise,” she says. “We rode to Florida on my brother’s mini bus, watched movies, ate good food, and just enjoyed being together.”

Phyllis lives by her father’s advice: “Treat people like you want to be treated.” And when asked to describe her experience at Taylor King Law in three words, she shares — Fulfilling, Enjoyable, Meaningful.
